Dan Sprehe Memorial Scholarship Fund

The Greater Chicago Chapter of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners supports the education of collegiate accounting, business administration, finance and criminal justice students from the Chicago area through the Dan Sprehe Memorial Scholarship Fund. Students who are members of both the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners and Greater Chicago Chapter of the ACFE are eligible to apply for this scholarship. The Chicago Chapter will reimburse up to ten (10) students per academic year for the cost of the ACFE Exam Prep and CFE Exam upon passing the exam. This amount is currently at the student discount cost of $350.

The ACFE Greater Chicago Chapter is accepting tax-deductible donations

to the Dan B Sprehe Memorial Scholarship Fund.

We lost Dan in September 2010, and we established the fund to carry on his legacy.

History

Dan Sprehe, CFEThe Dan Sprehe Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in 2010 to honor Dan Sprehe, CFE, who passed away at the age of 32. Dan was a tireless crusader in the war on fraud and corruption. Dan's early career was as a sports announcer in Milwaukee. After he came to Chicago, he found his true calling in fighting fraud. He was an investigator for the Chicago Inspector General's Office. Before that, Dan worked for the Better Government Association. Dan was actively involved in the Greater Chicago Chapter of the ACFE and was a member of its Board of Directors.

One of Dan's passions was to work with students and encourage them to become members of our most worthy profession. In his name, we help support students who put forth the effort to become Certified Fraud Examiners and carry on the mission that Dan held so dearly.
