History
The Dan Sprehe Memorial Scholarship
Fund was established in 2010 to honor Dan Sprehe, CFE, who passed away at the
age of 32. Dan was a tireless crusader in the war on fraud and corruption. Dan's
early career was as a sports announcer in Milwaukee. After he came to Chicago,
he found his true calling in fighting fraud. He was an investigator for the
Chicago Inspector General's Office. Before that, Dan worked for the Better
Government Association. Dan was actively involved in the Greater Chicago
Chapter of the ACFE and was a member of its Board of Directors.
One of Dan's passions was to work with students and
encourage them to become members of our most worthy profession. In his name, we
help support students who put forth the effort to become Certified Fraud
Examiners and carry on the mission that Dan held so dearly.
